Event Centre

The Killarney showgrounds is the event centre and is located in Willow St Killarney.

Registration Hub

50km registration will be open on Friday 21st June 2024 from 4pm until 8pm and on Saturday 22nd June 2024 from 5am until 6am.

21km registration at Killarney Showgrounds on Friday 21st June 2024 from 4pm until 8pm and on Saturday 22nd June 2024 from 5am until 8:30am.

10km registration at Killarney Showgrounds on Friday 21st June 2024 from 4pm until 8pm and on Saturday 22nd June 2024 from 5am until 9:30am.

Parking

Parking is available opposite the Killarney showgrounds.

Start Location

50km course starts approximately 20km from Killarney.

21km course starts approximately 8km from Killarney.

10km course starts approximately 6km from Killarney.

Transport

50km runners will be bussed to the start location. The bus is included in your entry price. No private transport is permitted.

21km and 10km runners have the option of a shuttle bus ride to the start locations. This can be booked and prepaid with your entry. Private transport is permitted to the 21km and 10km start locations.

Weather

Temperatures can vary greatly in the Southern Downs, ranging from 4 to 18 degrees in June. Competitors in the 50km event may experience high wind chill, so dress accordingly… it might feel like zero!

Refund policy

You can request a refund via Trybooking, up until 7 days before the event however please note Trybooking will withhold the booking fee.

Participant’s Agreement

All runners will be required to agree to the event entry conditions as they enter, when using the Trybooking page.

Clothing Bags (50km only)

Clothing bags big enough for a jumper/jacket will be supplied. Items of clothing can be handed to the “Bag Drop” volunteer, up to 5 mins before the start. Your items can then be collected from the Registration Hub after your run.

On-course bags (50km only)

If you wish to change shoes mid-course, this will be possible at the 30km mark. You must provide your own clearly labelled bag (name and competitor number) and drop this at the Registration Hub before you board the bus to the start.

Toilets

Portable toilets will be available at the start of all courses.

Water

50km course: All competitors must have the capacity to carry at least 2 litres of water. Water will be available on the courses at aid stations. Water is available at the Killarney Showgrounds.

Footwear

Suitable off-road trail running shoes are recommended.

Mandatory Equipment

The mandatory equipment list is based on several important factors:

  1. Competitor safety and wellbeing.
  2.  It is winter. Temperatures at the start of the 50km course could be in the vicinity of 4 degrees with wind chill making the apparent temperature much lower.
  3. The weather patterns within the run site can be very changeable due to the mountainous terrain and elevation above sea level.

Recommended items

The following items are not compulsory but are recommended to be carried.

Personal first aid kit for blister care and strains and sprains; sterile dressings and personal medications.

Food, energy bars or gels of sufficient calorific value to sustain energy levels required for the duration of the run.

Hat / cap and sunscreen.

Terrain

This is an OFF ROAD event. All competitors must be mindful of slippery surfaces, sticks, tree roots, loose gravel, dirt/rock creek crossings, rocks, potholes, cow hoofprints, snakes and uneven surfaces.

Spectators

50km – due to the lack of space at the start, NO spectators will be allowed. 50km runners will pass the start of both the 21km and 10km courses and spectators are welcome at these locations.

Aid Stations

50km: access to sports drinks, snacks, fruit, etc will be available at 14km, 30km and 41km milestones.

21km: access to sports drinks, snacks, fruit, etc will be available at 11km milestone..

10km: no aid stations

First Aid

Suitably qualified first aid personnel will be roaming the course and stationed at all aid stations.

Cut-off Times

50km: Runners must clear the course by 4:00pm. If you have not passed the 30km point by 12:30pm, you’ll be given the option of a shortened route or transport to the finish.

Gates

There are many gates on the course. Officials will be stationed on gates that cannot be left open.

Grids

There are stock grids along the route. If there’s no bypass gate, please take care crossing the grid.

Accommodation

There are many options in and around Killarney and we highly recommend staying in the area before the event.

Camping at the showgrounds is available for $25 per site per night for up to 4 people. Prepay with your entry.
